ABout us

We are a non-profit organization based in Bakersfield, dedicated to providing STEM awareness through robotics. Our mission is to help provide aspiring students with an outlet to develop strong engineering skills and build a community through VEX Robotics

our mission

Here at Bakersfield Robotics, our mission is to extend our reach to students who are hoping to learn more about robotics in order to provide them with an outlet to hone skills, expand knowledge, and nurture interest so they are able to reach their full potential.

Goals

1. Provide a safe and accessible way to teach robotics2. Gain hands on experience in engineering3. Expose our community to opportunities in the engineering field4. Design, build, and program competitive robots for regional, and national robotics competitions.

VEX VRC

Bakersfield Robotics is run by and for highschool students from all around Bakersfield. Taking a close look at our team, from our main leaders to our core members, we are all within the range of grades 9-12. (Unfortunately that does mean that strictly highschoolers are permitted to be a part of the robotics team, meaning that anyone who isn’t a current highschool student will not be allowed to partake in ongoing tournaments/competitions.) We pride ourselves on this fact due to the vast amount of opportunities we allow young, aspiring students to secure. Opportunities such as gaining experience/developing connections that can be used as a reference, being able to expand technological capabilities or skills, and having a conduit to learn more about the core fundamentals of robotics and the work that is put into it. We hope to grow and branch out to more and more highschools as we continue to develop as a team and more so as a community.

Summer Camps

The Robotics Summer Camp is a one-week camp for 4th-8thgrade students from beginner to advanced groups. The camp is led by award winning seasoned instructors who will help prepare students for competition. Throughout the week students will learn how to build, program, and see their robots in action. T-shirts, snacks and drinks will be accommodated by the camp.

Session 1: July 15-18 [Mon- Thur] 8:00am - 1:30pmSession 2: July 22-24 [Mon - Thur] 8:am - 1:30

VEX IQ

The VEX IQ team is composed of the children who attend and perform adequately doing the summer camp. During the VEX IQ season, the selected individuals will meet with our team leader. The children will be able to build more advanced robots, applying what they learned during the summer camp and extending that knowledge further. Participants part of the VEX IQ team will compete in the VEX IQ competitions and conditioning them to a more competitive robotic environment.

Bakersfield Robotics is a non-profit organization student-led robotic program. Our mission is to spread and introduce robotics to children from 4th-8th grade and this year we will be starting a high school team. Below are the summary of what we offer;

Vex-IQ and V5 - Pre-Season

  • We build a team of kids

  • During this period the team will be designing, testing and building a new robot to meet the parameters and achieve the objectives of that season’s game.

Vex-IQ and V5 - Competition Season

  • We will be traveling in and around SoCal and join tournaments to compete with other teams

Summer camps (Grade 4th-8th)

  • We teach basic robotic fundamentals

  • Kids will be in teams and will learn to build and program their robots

  • At the End of the the camp robotic competition is held

There are kids that are interested in robotics but never had any real hands-on learning. Bakersfield Robotic hopes to bring that to them. We are looking for support to finance our teams. We are needing more Vex IQ & V5 competition kits, materials, field and tournament fees.
